SB-Pro from Nurmijärvi are champions of first ever F-Liiga Super Cup for women. In today’s final in Lempäälä, SB-Pro came back from three goals down to beat PSS 5-4. Meri-Helmi Höynälä scored the winner with just two and a half minutes left.
Today’s first period belonged to PSS with Ella Holmberg scoring twice off Ella Sundström’s passes and Aada Heikkinen sailing away to make it three with goalie Arla Salo getting the assist. Still after two periods PSS had a two-goal lead but the final one was to change everything. Time after time, SB-Pro were able to forecheck the ball off PSS’ blades and with less than five minutes left, Karoliina Kujala’s backhand brought SB-Pro abreast.
The winning goal was a reflection of the whole game as Hanna-Mari Uimonen intercepted a sloppy opening pass by the PSS defence at the boards and immediately directed the ball to Meri-Helmi Höynälä in the middle. The young national team center did not waste any time firing a beautiful shot into the right top corner.
