TPS has won three championships back-to-back in the women’s series and is on its way to finals yet again after winning Eräviikingit 7-0. TPS is leading the series with 2-0 wins. Classic is also leading its series 2-0 after winning SB-Pro 3-2 in Nurmijärvi. Places in the finals are now at stake on Wednesday games for TPS and Classic.
Eräviikingit had a tough night in its home game on Monday. TPS scored after six minutes in the first period and Eerika Koski led the team to 2-0 lead before the first break. Milla Granlund continued in the second period with a third goal for TPS, and in the final period Eräviikingit found the ball in their net four more times. Milla Granlund was the most efficient player with two goals and one assist. Olivia Pietilä scored two goals as well.
The other game of the night was more even, and there were no goals in the first period. SB-Pro took the lead in the second period after a goal from Veronika Kopecka, but Johanna Homi tied the game fairly soon. Suvi Hämäläinen turned the game for Classic with her goal in the third period, but once again SB-Pro tied the game with a goal in power play by Mirja Hietamäki, assisted by Milja Saarikoski. SB-Pro had a chance to win in overtime when Classic visited the penalty box, but Classic kept on humbly blocking the shots. Classic, in turn, was succesful in their power play as Elli Kylmäluoma lifted the ball to the net.
Welhot is playing against Pirkat in F-liiga qualifiers on Tuesday. Pirkat is leading the series with 2-0 wins and hence only needs one more win to ensure a spot in F-liiga.
