TPS and Classic to the Finals!

TPS and Classic will play in the finals again. They both won their semifinal rounds 3-0. TPS defeated Eräviikingit 6-5 and Classic won SB-Pro 1-0 on Wednesday’s games.

 

TPS took the lead in the first period 2-1, but Maura Paajanen quickly tied the game. Inka Lippojoki led Eräviikingit to the lead and in the second period Matilda Rytkönen grew the lead to 4-2. However, TPS had a strong third period. Emilia Pietilä and Milla Granlund scored once each and tied the game once again. Eräviikingit took the lead once more with Pinja Suhonen’s goal, but Henrika Maikola scored for TPS, taking the game to overtime. Emilia Pietilä ended the game after eight minutes of overtime and sent TPS, last year’s champion, to the finals.

In Lempäälä, the only goal of the night was from Elli Kylmäluoma after 8 minutes of the first period. SB-Pro played a strong game, but Classic was able to defend it’s goal until the end. Goalie Julia Saarinen had 15 saves and did not hesitate on the goal.

 

In the qualifiers the current F-liiga -team O2-Jyväskylä sealed their place in the league for next season as well. Northern Stars was defeated 8-4 and the home-team took the qualifying series with clear 3-0 wins. Northern Stars was momentarily in 2-1 lead in the first period, but Taimi Mikkola, Janella Järvinen and Karoliina Juvonen turned the game for O2. Noora Lapinkoski and Jenna Pasanen had one goal and two assists each in the game.

In last year’s finals TPS defeated Classic with wins 4-2 and two years ago with wins 4-0. In the spring 2022 TPS won their first championship after winning PSS in the finals.
