Classic Celebrates the Club’s Tenth Championship!

Classic won F-liiga women’s Championship with wins 4-2 after defeating TPS in the sixth final 6-3. The championship was the club’s 10th gold and ended TPS’ era after three subsequent gold medals.

Suvi Hämäläinen was the first to score for Classic, but Milla Granlund tied the game after a skillful performance through the court. Classic went to lead in the first period when first Veera Vilenius and later Johanna Homi made it to 3-1. Olivia Pietilä brought hope to TPS by scoring in the second period, but Elli Kylmäluoma soon made it to 4-2 and Suvi Hämäläinen finished the second period to 5-2 after a great assist from Zara Gauffin-Kauste. Milla Granlund brought TPS closer once more in the final period, but this remained as the last goal for the team. Elli Kylmäluoma finished the numbers to 6-3 two minutes before the end buzzer.

The previous championships for Classic are from years 2003, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2017.

TPS won all of their 22 games in the regular season and began the playoffs with 6 wins. In the finals Classic won the first three games and TPS the next two. Classic won the championship after the fourth win.
