TPS Turku publish another important player contract as Heikki Hirvisuo joins the team from Swedish Visby IBK. The 23-year old defenseman signed a one-year contract with an option for eventual studies elsewhere. Hirvisuo’s signing means the roster is now complete for the first ever F-Liiga season.
For the last two seasons, Heikki Hirvisuo represented Visby IBK where he had four goals and assists in this season’s 31 games. He is visibly excited to join his native club again.
“I have been following the team from a distance for two years and it has been great to see how successful they have been, so it feels really good to join them.”
Heikki Hirvisuo previously played six seasons for TPS Juniors leading them to the Finnish championship title in 2017, and he took big steps forward as a player in Sweden.
“I grew a lot both as a player and as a person. Especially my second season there taught me a lot as I got to play big games against the world’s elite players. I see myself as a two-way defenseman who can both produce results in offense and work hard in defense.”
Another pleasant bit of news for TPS is club legend Jere Jokinen joining the team as an assistant coach. Jokinen represented the club in more than 150 Finnish league games scoring almost 200 points.
