F-liiga Men’s Week 13: Quarter Finals Excitingly Even

Quarter finals finally started with multiple even games. Each team in the four pairings has already won a game.

 

Classic won the regular season, but Eräviikingit immediately proved their place in the playoffs by surprising Classic in their first game, winning the game 11-10. However, Classic took control over the series as they won the next two games with numbers 9-4 and 8-3.

 

The reigning champion, Oilers, won their first encounter with Happee 9-3, but lost the second game 4-2, which was played in Hirviareena with over 1 000 spectators. In the third game the numbers were tightly 4-4 by the end of second period, but in the end Oilers won with clear numbers 11-4.

 

Teppo Liukkonen (in the picture), SPV, has proven to be a difficult goalie for Nokian KrP to score against. Nokian KrP won the first game with Valtteri Viitakoski’s 3-2 goal in overtime. However, SPV won their home-game 7-4 and the next away-game 4-3 with Riku Hakanen scoring in the last minutes.

 

Westend Indians and TPS have played thrillingly even games from the start. Indians won their first home-game 4-3 in overtime, where as SPV’s Tuomas Ojala scored the 5-4 winning goal in Seinäjoki. Indians took the points from the third game with a more clear 6-3 win.

 

There have been no surprises in F-liiga qualifiers. OLS was the first team to make it to second round by winning all three games against Koovee (7-5, 4-3 OT, 11-1).

In other pairings the wins are 2-0 for Karhut (9-4 and 6-4 against O2 Jyväskylä), Hawks (5-3, 4-3 OT against M-Team) and LASB (5-3 and 3-2 against Salba)
