Oilers One Win Away from the Finals, OLS Continues in F-liiga

Oilers took a big step into this year’s finals on Friday’s game as they won Westend Indians 8-2 and are now leading the semifinals with 3-1 wins.

 Markus Salmi was the first to score for Oilers, but Leevi Auranen tied the game in the opening period. Aaro Astala led Oilers to the lead again and Justus Kainulainen grew the lead to two goals. Oilers took their final break away at the end of the second period when both Aaro Astala and Markus Markkola put the ball to the net. Samuli Huppunen was able to score once more for Indians, but Justus Kainulainen completed his hat-trick by shooting the sixth and seventh goals for Oilers. Heikki Iiskola finalized the end score 8-2 to an empty net.

Oilers will play for a place in the finals on Saturday.

In the F-liiga qualifiers OLS secured their place in F-liiga after winning Karhut for the third time with numbers 5-3. Hence, OLS and LASB both kept their places in the league. Karhut got a good start to the game with goals from Janne Kuusiluoto and Eero Vanhatalo. However, Riku Ruonakangas, Kimi Vänttilä and Aaro Haverinen led OLS to the lead before the second intermission and Ruonakangas grew the lead into two goals in the final period. Joni Koskinen scored once more for Karhut, but Kimi Vänttilä scored the final goal for OLS.
