EräViikingit lose crucial point: Eliminated from the playoffs

EräViikingit failing to take all three points against OLS last night meant they lost their last chance of making the playoffs this year. This is the first time in EräViikingit’s short history when they are not among the top eight.

The result means the F-liiga title for men will be decided among Classic, Oilers, Nokian KrP, TPS, Happee, LASB, Westend Indians and SPV.

In Oulu last night, EräViikingit blew a two-goal lead twice and had 5-4 and 6-5 in the final period. Two minutes from time, OLS drew a penalty but even with six players against four, EräViikingit only managed to hit the post.

In the deciding penalty shootout, though, Tuomas Aho delivered one of the most spectacular penalty shots of the season as EräViikingit took home the extra point that had already become useless.
