The Finnish floorball season 2020-2021 gets a fresh start in Mikkeli in 12th September. That is when the best teams of the previous season will play each other in Super Cup. Super Cup is an event where F-Liiga title holders are challenged by Finnish Cup champions.
In men’s Super Cup Classic will play Nokian KrP and in women’s Super Cup SB-Pro and PSS meet. Classic and SB-Pro are Finnish champions from 2019 and Nokian KrP and PSS made it to last season’s Finnish Cup final where they lost against Classic and SB-Pro.
Alongside Super Cup the event will host F-Liiga kick-off 2020-2021 for media with star players from all 30 F-Liiga teams attending.
Naturally, Super Cup is going to be an annual event.
“We wanted to take Super Cup to a town where the is no local F-Liiga team yet”, F-Liiga CEO Kimmo Nurminen says. “Mikkeli is a town rich with sports tradition and Saimaa Stadium is an excellent arena for elite floorball. Last season, Classic played their regular season there and I had the chance to witness how smoothly everything went.”
