Despite two match balls, Nokian KrP were not able to upset Classic after all. Having been down 2-3 in matches, the reigning champions took their place in the finals for the fifth consecutive time winning the decisive Game 7 at home 10-4.
After a series of somewhat shaky performances, Classic were able to perform impressively in the last two ones of the semi-final series, beating KrP 7-2 and 10-4. One of the important changes thery made were adjusting their first unit with Nico Salo playing defense instead of center and Ville Lastikka taking his place between Eemeli Salin and Sami Johansson.
In game 7, Sami Johansson scored no less than five goals, breaking F-liiga records. He now alone holds the record for most points in a single play-off season (33) and shares the record for most goals (21) with Miko Kailiala. The points record from 2005 was until now held by Mika Kohonen himself.
The F-liiga finals between Classic and Oilers will start on Monday.
