Oilers gets to celebrate its second subsequent championship of F-liiga after defeating Classic 3-1 in the seventh final match in Tampere. There were 3700 spectators present in Hakametsä Icehall.
History repeated itself as last year’s championship for Oilers was also won in Tampere in the seventh game against Classic. Oilers played without Justus Kainulainen, who has been chosen as the best player in the world, and who had to follow the game from the sidelines due to injury in a previous final game.
First period was played for quite some time without goals before Oilers struck. Markus Salmi assisted the ball to Markus Markkola, who shot the ball behind Lassi Toriseva. Antti Suomela doubled the lead after only 39 seconds.
Classic was back in the game in the second period, as Ville Lastikka scored after an assist from Peteris Trekse. This was the only goal for the period. In the beginning of third period Aaro Astala passed to Heikki Iiskola, who delivered the ball to the net and grew the lead back to two goals. Classic was not able to tie the game anymore and Oilers was the one to celebrate as champions of season 2024-25.
This is the sixth championship for Oilers in its history. Previous championships have been won in 1999, 2002, 2003, 2006 and 2024. In addition, Oilers has five silvers and five bronze-medals from the league level.
